Christmas Season 2019
What is the most important thing you can do this Christmas?
There’s a long list to consider, to be sure. Let’s bracket off honoring the birth of Christ by attending a church service celebrating the event, as this should be a given. What else is there to consider?
Christmas is the season of giving, and I believe that we at South Reno UMC should be among the most generous people on earth. So, during this season, the most important thing you can do this Christmas is to prayerfully consider how God is leading you to give your best gift ever.
I know that we live in a day of tweets and posts, but would you please pause for just a moment to reflect on this request?
The next year, 2020, looks to be a pivotal year in the life and mission of South Reno United Methodist Church (see our “Vivid Vision” here). To help respond to the emerging needs as they develop, this Christmas, South Reno is asking you to give the most generous gift you can – above and beyond your normal giving – as a direct gift to Christ Himself at Christmas to celebrate His birthday. The money will be used strategically for the work of His mission in our community and beyond.
South Reno strives to make a difference in the lives of people. Your gift will support the heart of our mission, which is to partner with God for the transformation of our community and world. We are seeking to enhance our offerings to better serve children, adults, and seniors who need the touch and direction of Christ. Would you consider making this strategic investment as we try to reach even more people with the loving, relevant, and life-giving Gospel message of Jesus?
You may give online, by visiting SouthRenoUMC.org or the central hub at SouthRenoUMC.info, where you’ll find the link to give to “Give to Christ at Christmas.” Should you prefer to give by check (payable to South Reno UMC), you may bring the envelope with you for the time of giving during one of our worship services until January 12th. If you are out of town during this time, please mail your donation at your convenience.
I realize that you are overwhelmed with requests to support a large number of causes during the holidays. While many are worthy causes, nothing can take the place of the local church when it is active and focused representing Christ to the community. After all, isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
I give thanks often for your support and partnership. It is my joy and a privilege to be your pastor in this, our mutual ministry.
Grace + Peace,
Pastor Craig Dale
P.S. God is going to do amazing things in 2020, and I can't wait to see how lives are forever changed. I truly believe the best is yet to come…Merry Christmas!
